World Cup 2010: England manager Fabio Capello wary of confident Spain

Fabio Capello has earmarked Spain as the biggest threat to England's chances of winning the World Cup this summer.

Red alert: England manager Fabio Capello has highlighted the strengths of Spain ahead of the World Cup

The European champions are the favourites to win this summer's competition in South Africa and Capello can understand why they are highly fancied.

"Spain have a confidence, a system of play that makes it difficult to beat them - and they don't rely on one player to score the goals," Capello said in an interview with Spanish television last night.

Asked who else has the potential to win the World Cup, Capello continued: "Brazil I think are a team who are very difficult to beat and Argentina have improved a lot since they qualified. Us, and the Germans and Italians. Another team who are very good are Holland. They could be a danger."

Capello has also delivered a glowing appraisal of Aston Villa midfielder James Milner, labelling him the most improved player in his squad, while also saluting Wayne Rooney's prolific record with Manchester United.

"This season the player who has improved most has been Milner," he added. "He's played three or four games for us and forms part of the national team.

"Rooney has scored a lot of goals this season. I hope he maintains the same form until South Africa. He is like a bull."

Meanwhile, Sven-Goran Eriksson admits he is dreaming of meeting England in South Africa after formally being unveiled as the new Ivory Coast manager.

"The Ivory Coast has a lot of good players - it couldn't be better.," he said. "It will not be easy but I think the Ivory Coast with all their talents can get through.

"It would be a great match if we could meet England - and hopefully in the final. Anything is possible."
